The Graduate Programme in Religious Studies at the University of Calgary is one of the finest in North America, but they didn’t have any way to advertise that fact.
Instead of stereotypically religious imagery, the department wanted a look that was uniquely Calgarian. By combining one of my own photos of downtown with the majestic Rocky Mountains, I was able to give these posters a feeling of religious awe that was anything but cliché.
Equally important was the content of these posters; there was a lot of information to be contained in a small space, but by using a creative layout with generous amounts of whitespace, the text is now easily visible, even at a distance.
This series of 11x17 posters is sure to entice students from around the world to consider the University of Calgary.
